Frequently Asked Questions

RAD Card Program

  • The RAD Card is a digital gift card dedicated to the small, locally owned businesses in your downtown or hometown business district. Load your RAD Card and be the rad foodie & shopper who supports innovative entrepreneurs in the heart of your city. RAD is giftable, too!

If you live in a place where your local government has injected COVID economic relief funds into the dollar-for-dollar match RAD account, you can double your dollars at your favorite restaurants, retailers, and personal care services while funds last.

While economic relief gift card funds last, load your RAD Card with $25, $50, $75 and up to $100 and get matched, dollar-for-dollar. Donor match funds won’t last forever, so get them before they run out!

  • We all know that these Covid relief funds from the government won't roll in forever, and when they stop, RAD Card will evolve with the times and provide other perks, reward programs, etc. Another benefit is that once the government funds are used up, we won't be required to use them in a designated area, so you'll be able to use your RAD Card at ANY participating location! The RAD Card is only going to get more "RAD," and we hope you’ll stay in touch!

  • We’d love for you to follow us on social media @TheRadCard on Facebook and Instagram!

Where can I use my RAD Card?

  • Your RAD Card may be used at any participating business in the jurisdiction which you loaded your funds for. Funds loaded for a particular city must be spent within that city. Funds loaded for a county, may be spent in any city within that county.

If you’ve loaded your funds for San Joaquin County, you may view all participating RAD Card businesses individually, by city. The list of businesses/communities are available on the “map” page.

    1. Click on the map button in the upper right-hand corner.

    2. Select the community you’re interested in.

    3. Click "Apply."

The full list of participating businesses will appear for you to scroll through.

The communities located in San Joaquin County accepting RAD Card are:

    - Escalon, Lathrop, Lodi, Manteca, Ripon, Stockton, and Tracy.

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to transfer your RAD funds, per our refund policy, viewable here.

When you selected to load your RAD Card, you were required to acknowledge the community in which you were loading your funds to be spent. This pop-up message is coded into our programing, and we have verified with our programmer that this function is working properly in every jurisdiction and in every instance. Purchases are securely disabled until this confirmation button is tapped.

The RAD Card is a non-profit program aimed at providing COVID-related relief to small local business owners during these difficult times. We are a 501(c)3 organization managing the RAD Card as a means to deploy AARPA. CARES Act and donor funds in a way that is quick, meaningful, and alleviates cost to the businesses who desperately need that now.

Every refund or transfer costs money to the program which comes out of what would otherwise aid the businesses we are all trying to support. This cost is significant, and each refund or transfer request greatly diminishes the impact RAD Card makes in our communities.

Managing My Account

  • You can change your password by using the “reset password” link on your log in page. You’ll receive an email. If you don’t see this link in your inbox, check your spam folder. Once in a while that’s where the link lands.

  • To load funds into your RAD Card account, just follow the steps in the images here:

  • Every refund or transfer costs money to the program which comes out of what would otherwise aid the businesses we are all trying to support. This cost is significant, and each refund or transfer request greatly diminishes the impact RAD Card makes in our communities.

Therefore, we are unable to process requests for transfers and refunds at this time. If you have further questions, you may visit https://www.theradcard.com/refund-policy to view our refund policy in full.

  • Absolutely not. All your account information is stored safely within our internal database and will not be affected by deleting your app.

  • The most common solution to any app problem is to update it. We are constantly working to push out improvements and updates to the RAD Card app, and your app is likely not working properly because you may be operating on an older version.

Please verify that your app is up-to-date, by going to the App Store or Google Play and download the latest version. You may also try completely deleting your app and re-downloading it.

  • We generally are able to respond within a few hours of your support request. If it’s been longer than that, we are experiencing an unusually high volume. We ask that you do not send multiple requests as it further clogs our inbox. All support requests receive a response in the order of which it was received. Please note that we do not respond to customer support emails on Sundays.

Matching Donor Funds

  • Each community receives their own temporary federal funding from the government, often at different times. Matching funds are GREAT and we are so appreciative of them however, the doubling of funds is never guaranteed, as these funds are only available while they last. When you load your RAD Card, the app will alert you whether or not matching funds remain in your community. You must acknowledge this pop-up in order to continue with your transaction. If donor funds are not currently available, they will likely be again at some point in the future. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and FaceBook @TheRadCard to stay up to date on when you can expect matching donor funds in your community!

  • Once the news of allocated funds is announced it still takes 2-3 weeks for the funds to actually post. You can continue checking daily, as we have no way of knowing when exactly they will be available. When you go to add funds, you'll receive the pop-up below, before confirming your purchase, if matching donor funds are not currently available.

  • When you selected to load your RAD Card for this community, you were required to acknowledge that you understood that donor funds were not available. This pop-up message is coded into our programing, and we have verified with our programmer that this function is working properly in every jurisdiction and in every instance. Please see the screenshot below of the alert which you had to acknowledge in order to proceed with your purchase. In this situation, purchases are securely disabled until this confirmation button is tapped.

  • If this happens, you likely loaded your RAD Card after your account had already reached the $100 donor match maximum. We have a $100 donor match max per city and $200 donor match max per county to ensure that these Covid-relief funds can be distributed across our community far and wide during these difficult times.

However, even when the dollar-for-dollar match is not available, the RAD program is a great way to support local, and the value of your own funds loaded onto the downtown gift card app are not diminished.

And just a friendly heads up, creating multiple accounts. In an attempt to access more matching donor funds is a violation of the program and misuse of federal stimulus dollars that are being deployed by the County.

  • Please bear in mind that this program is designed specifically to bolster businesses sales coming out of COVID. Accounts should be actively used, not static. Having said that, funds that people purchase for their RAD Cards do not expire. Matching donor funds continue indefinitely.

  • It's always nice when funds are doubled however, even when the dollar-for-dollar match is not available, the RAD program is a great way to support local, and the value of your own funds loaded onto the downtown gift card app are not diminished. The RAD Card program is still extremely beneficial for the small businesses of our communities. RAD Card is essentially cash on a card. It’s like a gift card that can be used at a ton of locations!

We all know that these Covid relief funds from the government won't continue to roll in forever, and when they stop, RAD Card will evolve with the times and provide other perks, reward programs, etc. Another benefit is that once the government funds are used up, you won't be required to use them in a designated jurisdiction, so you'll be able to use your RAD Card at ANY participating location! The RAD Card is only going to get more "RAD," and we hope you’ll stick around!

If your business qualifies, you will receive a verification email with all of the business resources needed to operate the RAD Card program.

  • If your business was rejected it means that you not currently qualify for the RAD Card program because it is either not in the boundary outlined by your city/county RAD liaison or because it is not considered an experience-economy retailer whose typical products sell for less than the denomination amounts available for purchase on the RAD Card (i.e., less than $100).

Please note, RAD Card isn’t for grocery stores, gas stations, central heat and air service stores, furniture stores or auto dealers. It IS for restaurants, theaters, boutique retailers and beauty salons.

HOWEVER, we know that these Covid relief funds from the government won't continue to roll in forever, and when they stop, RAD Card will evolve with the times to provide other perks, reward programs, etc. Another benefit is that once the government funds are used up, we can reevaluate current regulations and bring many more types of businesses on board. The RAD Card is only going to get more "RAD," so we encourage you to still fill out an application so we can reach out to you once our program is updated!

  • Businesses are strictly prohibited from selling internal gift cards to RAD Card customers. Businesses are monitored for this type of exchange and may be suspended or permanently expelled from the program as a result.

Questions pertaining to the latest update:

FUND BALANCE NOT SHOWING

Sometimes this happens because you’re logged into the wrong account and you’ve already used all of your funds there. Sometimes this happens because you simply need to update your app. Either way, if your account balance is not reflected on your app after downloading/updating the most current version of the app, please email us at radcard@domopartnership.org.

BUSINESS LISTING…WHERE ARE THEY?

The list of businesses are available on the map page. Please click on the map button in the upper righthand corner and type in the name of the business or community you’re interested in and the app will populate the map accordingly. Please note that it can take a couple of days for new businesses to populate on the map.

MATCHING FUNDS…ARE THEY AVAILABLE?

Matching funds are available while donor funds last. When you go to download funds, the app will tell you if matching funds remain in your community. If donor funds are not currently available, they will likely be again at some point in the future. In the meantime, you can still use the app for contactless spending that supports local merchants (unlike credit cards, merchants don’t have to pay a credit card processing fee with RAD Card). It also makes for a great gift since it provides plenty of options for your recipient, rather than limiting them to one establishment as occurs with most gift cards.

PASSWORD RESET ERROR

Please go to the App Store or Google Play to download the most recent version of the app and then try resetting your password again.

QR CODE NOT SHOWING

A small number of RAD Card users reported this issue following release of the new version of the app. We pushed through an update to address a few system glitches, this among them. Please go to the App Store or Google Play and install the update. If you continue to have issues following the update, please email us at radcard@domopartnership.org
